About the Program
AHE's Practical Nursing Program prepares students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Through a blend of classroom instruction, lab practice, simulation, and clinical rotations, graduates are equipped to sit for the NCLEX-PN licensure examination and enter the workforce with confidence.
License Earned
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) — eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN examination upon successful program completion.

Program Structure
LPN Curriculum Overview
54-week program (including weekends, holidays and school breaks). AHE integrates Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, and Dosage Calculation throughout all courses.

Fundamentals of Nursing
Introduces core nursing concepts, patient care skills, safety, infection control, and basic clinical procedures.
BIO 101
Anatomy & Physiology
Covers the structure and function of the human body systems as a foundation for clinical nursing practice.
NUT 101
Nutrition
Explores the role of nutrition in health promotion, disease prevention, and patient care across the lifespan.
NUR 102
Growth & Development
Examines physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development from infancy through older adulthood.

Medical-Surgical Nursing I
Focuses on the nursing care of adult patients with common medical and surgical conditions, including assessment and intervention.
NUR 202
Mental Health Nursing
Addresses psychiatric and mental health concepts, therapeutic communication, and care of patients with behavioral health needs.

Gerontology
Explores age-related changes, common conditions of older adults, and person-centered care in long-term and community settings.

Medical-Surgical Nursing II
Builds on Med-Surg I with more complex conditions, advanced clinical skills, and critical thinking in patient management.

Maternal-Newborn Nursing
Covers antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, as well as newborn assessment and family-centered nursing.

Pediatric Nursing
Addresses the nursing care of infants, children, and adolescents across acute, community, and home health settings.

Introduces principles of nursing leadership, delegation, team communication, and professional practice in healthcare settings.
