LPN PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Practical Nursing program is an entry-level Nursing program designed for adult learners who wish to enter the Nursing field.  Practical Nursing meets student's needs for vocational training and community needs for qualified Licensed Practical Nurses in the work force.  Licensed Practical Nurses function as a contributing member of the health-care team by providing Nursing care under the supervision or direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Physician.  The LPN scope of practice includes contributing to data collection, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.  Duties may include assignment of specific tasks and teaching basic nursing skills and principles.  Practical Nurses provide safe and effective care for individuals or groups in various settings, ranging from hospitals, to physicians offices, clinics, rehabilitation and extended care facilities as well as in the home.  The learning laboratory provision of physical facilities, equipment, instructional support services, and qualified facility is essential for technical training.  Cooperation and support from various nursing practice settings ensures that students receive effective clinical instructions.  Academy of Health Care Excellence is Accredited by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.  Upon completion of the program, graduates qualify to apply for the state Board of Nursing Examination for licensure as a Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN).  Graduates are awarded an Academic certificate in Practical Nursing program.  The total clock hour requirements for completion of the Academic certificate is 1200 hours.
